RINA Subleases Oakland Office

Since the pandemic forced us to close our offices in March 2020, RINA, like so many other businesses around the world, has missed the daily interactions with colleagues and clients that we had taken for granted for so many years.

At the time, pivoting to a firm with an almost 100% remote workforce created challenges which would have been much more difficult if the firm had not already set itself up to hire workers living outside the Bay Area. Although working at home created its own set of challenges for many, we found efficiencies in the way we were able to work from our kitchen tables.

Many of our team members developed an appreciation of this “new normal”. The comfortable warmth of the work area, the lack of traffic and public transportation, and the flexibility of the schedule were some ways that we all found to be improvements over the daily traditional office environment.

Throughout the pandemic, and most recently with the easing of restrictions on in-person work, RINA has surveyed staff to gain a better understanding of how our people feel about returning to work in the office.

Like many office workers around the country, RINA’s team members want a hybrid work schedule moving forward, allowing them to split their time between the traditional and home office environments. And RINA’s goal continues to be to adapt to the needs of our workforce, and to be seen as an attractive place to work for those skilled professionals living both in and outside of the Bay Area.

With the decreased need for physical office space moving forward, RINA has made the difficult decision to close its Oakland office.

RINA started in Oakland 76 years ago.

We love the community, its people, its businesses.

Many of us live here and RINA will maintain our ties to Oakland.

All of the Oakland staff will be moving to either a home office, or to one of our physical offices in San Francisco or Walnut Creek. Or something in between.
